Maxitours at Preston Golf Club

Preston Golf Club was in stunning condition for todays Maxitours event. The bad weather is a distant memory now as golf courses are really getting up and running. The final five holes are superb and the 17th hole is as close to playing the 13th at Augusta Georgia as you will get.

The food in the Clubhouse is also class. You must play Preston.

Tim Bessant turned up despite pulling a calf muscle whist fishing last week. Injury prone Tim was in trouble chasing after his rod after a big carp was hooked when he wasn’t watching He was back fishing for his golf ball this week after a couple of wild hooks off the tee.

The weather was fine throughout the day until the rain moved in for the last two hours play.

Two of the early teams who enjoyed blue skies and a very gentle breeze shared the lead throughout the day. Mick Mahon, Dave Westwood, Richard Palmer and John Farnsworth had a best of the year 90 points. Westwood was that fed up with his recent performances he is emigrating to Australia next week but nearly had a Cinderella story narrowly missing out on an emotional win.

It was popular Dave Goodwin(10), Richard Williamson(11), Dave Greenwood(11) and Phil Holland(13) who pipped them on the back nine to take the spoils. The quartet were on fire over the closing holes and Williamsons glorious par at the last was crucial.
