Maxitours at perfect Prestatyn
A day in a million greeted Maxitours competitors at Prestatyn Golf Club. The course really was in pristine condition with players returning to the clubhouse wearing cleaner looking shoes than when they teed off.
Outstanding.
It was great to smell freshly cut grass as the greenkeepers did some last minute preparation around the 18th green before play. Spring had well and truly sprung.
Scoring improved throughout the day as conditions improved with warming air and the wind considerably dying down.
Dave Blood, Andy Sandham, Jimmy Cox and Sunbed Jenkinson took the lead when they were the first team to break the 80 point barrier.
Third place eventually went to Dave Griffiths, Dave Conville, Paul McCallum and Neil Shawcross who pipped John Colquitt, Gary Neiles, Gav Connor and James Connor with 81pts on a card play off.
Taking second place with an excellent 44 points on their back nine were Paul Calnan (11) Chris Jackson (3) Jon Croxford (3) and Malc Kendrick (1). Despite the lack of shots the Tytherington team battled well. They played the tough par threes in 2 under par to keep their round ticking over.
Winning today with 83 points was the Sale Team of Martin Bray, Pete Moores, Jag Bhakar and Moby Rawthore. They were out 2nd last in the best of the weather and made the most of the super Prestatyn greens,
