North Wales postponed

Dear Maxitours players

North Wales is cancelled on Thursday
High winds, rain and freezing temperatures are not pleasant even on a great links course.
Thanks to NorthWales Golf Club manager Darren who has been a pleasure to communicate with.

Yours in golf,
Tim

Ps Algarve events filling fast for next year- life is too short to spend January suffering non golf misery. Let me know if you are interested.

Scores heading into the final round!

Algarvian Classic 2 second round results.

Once again tee shirts and shorts were the order of the day as the second round of the Algarvian Classic took place under clear blue skies.

Dave Madelys Hale team score improved by ten shots after his big night out. He plans to stay out really late tonight to secure an even better score tomorrow. Team player.

Prestburys Geoff Bickerton and his less posh schoolboy pals from Bolton take a five shot lead into the final round after a solid 75 points in a tough wind.

They are followed by Dave Lloyds Stockport team who could only manage 69. Matt Barratts team had a fantastic 76 on moving day as they careered through the field at the Quinta North course today. One handicapper Mark Hudson reeled in 4 birdies. Class.

It should be a great day tomorrow at the famous Quinta South course -host of the Portuguese open several times over the past thirty years.

Start times will be posted in the hotel foyer at 5pm.

Tim.

Maxitours Algarvian Classic 2

Algarvian Classic Day 1

Tropical conditions were enjoyed by Maxitours players on the fantastic Laranjal golf course. Temperatures were touching 25 degrees, clear blue skies and a very gentle breeze but the course was playing tough. The sloping greens were running at about 12 on the stimp meter and they were firming up as the day progressed.

Martin Quinn impressed his team with two magnificent shots onto the long tough par four 14th green. Five putts later and things were looking a bit less rosy.

Dave Madely stayed out late last night and didn’t perform to his usual high standard. He has therefor decided to stay out even LATER tonight to see if that is the answer. I like your thinking Dave..

Things are very tight indeed at the top of the Algarvian Masters 2 leaderboard. There seems to be two events developing as three talented teams scored in the eighties and the rest of the field are fighting among themselves.

What a great day.

Results from Algarvian Classic 1

Maxitours in the amazing Algarve.

Wow!
What a great few days golf in the warm Algarvian sunshine. Laranjal was an incredible venue to host an exciting final round.

Huge thanks to Julie Franklin from Holidays4golfers -she is the best in the business and make things stress free for me and my clients

It’s been an amazing week but I made a small note to myself to aim at a younger clientele next year. At times it has felt like I was running a SAGA holiday. Over the week I have had 5 lost clubs, 3 lost headcovers and 2 lost jackets.

I’ve had 4 guys forgetting their tee times, two chaps forgetting what room they are in and I had a late night phone call from player who had forgotten what hotel he was in.

Best of all was Pete Newey who arrived from the practice ground on the 1st tee at Laranjal today with someone else’s buggy and clubs.
A worried looking German couple were frantically searching around the clubhouse as Pete happily drove their buggy to the 1st tee.

Todays course was in quite unbelievable condition, there were clear blue skies and the temperatures topped 20 degrees and everyone came off happy except John Keenan. He is not our tallest golfer and he came off looking really frustrated. I asked the what the problem was and he complained that he couldn’t reach the oranges on the trees.

Scoring was excellent today with Jim Rymer, Koos Alders, Mike Clewley, Richard Duerr and Mick Mahons teams making great moves on the final day.

In the overall event the thought of winning a maxitours bag towel proved too much pressure for the wealthy Mere team as they had to settle for 3rd place.

Knutsfords Steve Nanda, Neil Clarke, Nick Barnes Batty and Steve Lomax had a solid performance to seal a very unexpected 2nd place- brilliant.

Winning was Richard Margrave, Paul Traynor and father and daughter Steve and Freya Moores.
Golf is an incredible game and there are not many pastimes where a young girl can compete alongside her very old Dad. A magical week for the Moores family. Well played team you were the best quartet this week and fully deserve the victory.

Thanks to everyone for your support once again. I love running this event.

Yours in golf,
Tim.

results from superbly dry Shrigley Hall

Maxitours at Mottram Hall – space for 2 teams next week – long term forecast looks dry all week

Maxitours at superbly dry Shrigley Hall

Shrigley Hall well and truly stepped up to the plate today as a late replacement for the waterlogged Fleetwood course.

The course was incredibly dry and the greens excellent as all players enjoyed this spectacular golf course. A few Maxitours players will sleep well tonight as the rolling Pennine foothills gave my players an enjoyable work out. The only ones who won’t sleep tonight were the ones who couldn’t wait for their beds and fell asleep in the Clubhouse.

Its Burns night tonight but it was Welshman Mark Hughes and his team who will be playing with their daffodils tonight after a fantastic second place at Shrigley Hall. Nigel Ashtons majestic three on the final hole over the Shrigley Hall lake will live long in his memory.

Taking the win today was the big hitting team of Steve Booth(8), John Dempsey(1), Charlie Bleasedale(11)and Jamie Booth(10). A great team effort from the Turton quartet saw them take their first victory of the winter. Well played guys.

Thanks to everyone for changing venue and 100% attendance today.
