Maxitours at Prestbury GC.
One hundred and eleven sun drenched golfers enjoyed the fantastic Prestbury Golf Course in todays Maxitour event, there was a really friendly atmosphere and Spring felt like it had really arrived, it was a real shame when Pete Holmes had to destroy a cluster of daffodils with his follow through after finding trouble on the seventh.
As the Masters tournament began today the entrance into the Prestbury course reminded many competitors of Magnolia drive, the subtle greens and the need for excellent course management also draws comparisons to the Augusta links. In typical Masters style there were shouts of ‘get in the hole’ as Dave Stanhopes approach to the 17th hole finished inches away. There was also plenty of hoopin and a hollerin from Anton Ellis in the Knutsford Golf Club fourball as Chris Roberts made a wonderful par four at the 12th by holing his wedge shot over Raes Creek .
There were several worrying outfits on course today, Gaz Hibbert and Colin Roberts were both comfortable in lime, Mike Osborne claimed his pink outfit was salmon and Ross Birch was wearing lilac, yes lilac pants. Terry Davison resembled a budgerigar with his little green and yellow number.
On a more serious note Wayne Rooney called into the golf club to complain about Terry Davisons out of control behaviour, apparently Coleen was tending to her vegetable patch when she was disturbed by Davison as he jumped up and down on the 15th green. Terrys veins were fully pumped and he was swearing alarmingly at his putter after holing a long birdie putt on the 15th green. Very sorry for the aggressive outburst Wayne .
There was some great scoring from the leaders, housewife superstar Pete Cleaver and Jack Pryce scored a great 46 points this was matched by larger than life characters Paul Baxter and Mike Sweeney from Hopwood, 55 year old Baxter had the second eagle of his undistinguished career when he holed a wedge on his final hole, the tricky 11th. The honours rather embarrassingly when to Pete Tinkler playing alongside my Dad, the old man had 14 single putts the best of these being a thirty footer up the green on the 17th hole for a birdie.
Many, many thanks for your continued support of Maxitours events.
