Maxitours Legh Arms classic at Prestbury Golf Club sponsored by Pete Myers.

After a few hot clammy days the 100 or so Maxitours competitors were absolutely delighted to play in the refreshing rain at Prestbury today. The course was in superb condition- many thanks to Club Secretary Neville and top Greenkeeper Anthony Davies.

Franco Martinelli was head maitre de at the Savoy in London but even he was taken back by the quality of the bacon sandwiches on offer- ‘fantastico’ was how he described them.

Ken Jones looks like a normal bloke but he is actually a member of the North West Fungal Society. Back in the clubhouse he could hardly contain himself as he asked fellow Maxitour players ‘did you see those Bollito mushrooms on the 18th fairway?’ Ken once again finished his pint sitting on his own in the corner of the lounge.

Peter O’Driscoll made the only eagle of the day with a superb chip in on the par five 11th hole. Happy go lucky Irishman Pete played the hole perfectly, however he really does need to work hard on hiding the look of surprise on his face.

Carl Kennedy and fireman Tom Rogers teamed up to set the early pace with 44 points, Kennedy’s birdie on the tough 9th hole after hitting his approach to within a foot was the shot of the day. ‘Go on Tim, please mention it in your write up, please’ begged Kennedy desperately.

Juan Han recorded his first top three finish as his partner, the erratic 3 handicapper Moby Rawthore continued his good form to record 45 points and secure 2nd place.

Graham Sutcliffe partnered Brian Hopkins and he was delighted with his birdie on the 4th hole. A par on the tough ninth hole saw the Shrigley pair turn in 25 points and a solid back nine gave them a one shot victory. Well played chaps!

Many thanks to sponsor Pete Myers, owner of the high quality Legh Arms, and also the ‘talented Ballard boys’- for their continued Shotsaver GPS sponsorship, don’t forget I recommend and sell the fantastic s430 GPS fully loaded with 4000 courses, no annual subscription fees at the best UK price guaranteed.

Many thanks for your support, Tim.
