Results from Maxitours at Knutsford

The Knutsford golf course was immaculate for todays Maxitour event, the greens were described as pure class by more than one player, many thanks to Head Greenkeeper Paul and his assistant Mark for rising at 5am to prepare the course so well.

Ken Jones is really enjoying his Maxitour summer of golf as he combines hitting the ball into the woods with mushroom spotting, ‘there were some tremendous field mushrooms out there today’ said Jones. ‘I am coming back to Tatton park with the North West fungal society next Sunday to look at more mushrooms, if you think ramblers are an odd bunch you should see this lot.’

Birthday boy Trevor Upton was thinking of throwing his clubs in the Tatton Park lake and joining the fungal society instead however he played great golf on the back nine and went home happy.

Kit Parkington missed from 2 inches on the short 12th hole, when asked if he missed it on the left or right he replied ‘no I left it short, I didn’t realise it was an uphill putt.’

Dave Antrobus from Vale Royal was absolutely hopeless yesterday in a pro-am at Pike Fold, the first time he got on the team scorecard was when it dropped out of my back pocket on the 11th and he accidently trod on it. Today was a different story and portly Antrobus was magnificent as he made birdies on the tough 10th and 11th holes ably supported by the likeable Dave Stanhope from Mere. They recorded a magnificent 45 points.

Darren Whittaker and Ian King also scored 45 points however they were pipped by the two Dave’s on the back nine. Moby Rawthore and his better looking brother Manni had another good finish as they finished 3rd. Many thanks to all players for your continued support.
