Maxitours at Prestbury

Prestbury Golf Club was in absolutely tremendous condition for today’s Maxitours event.

Mark Crossley the new head green keeper was recently head hunted from Chesterfield and his excellent reputation is growing even more as the Golf course just gets better and better. Mark’s freshly mown fairways and hand cut greens were a real treat for today’s players. Many thanks also to all his staff- terrific.

‘Sensational’ was how the course was described by Ian King.
Maggie the incredibly attractive Prestbury bar maid has never had a mention in my reports and she has served our players well over the past 9 years. I always thought she was in her late 40’s but someone told me her age and I nearly fell over, so thanks for all your efforts Maggie.

James Marner gets married in the morning. He is a member of Prestbury and treated his best man and Ushers to a game. They will be desperately hoping that the speeches go better than the golf as they all struggled to 32 points.
In today’s event John Gregg looked down after another average round ‘He’d give up golf if I didn’t have so many sweaters’ said Bob his sympathetic playing partner .

The results are shorter than usual as I am off to watch the reds defeat mighty Midjeland tonight.

Phil Vokes and Barney Ross two low handicappers from Didsbury are really nice blokes and they were 6 under gros on the front nine as they secured a first win of the winter with 45 points. The rest of the scoring was very close with Joe Kirwan surprising everyone with his recent form playing alongside Mike Spencer.
John Bancroft won the bowls at Waterloo one year but this achievement was nearly eclipsed with victory today. He had to settle for 3rd place.

Many thanks to all for your support and for Prestbury for their terrific hospitality. Once again a 100% attendance was amazing. Tim
