Maxitours at lovely Leigh

A terrific event took place at Leigh today. This was the first time Maxitours visited this Lancashire gem and players were impressed. We will be back.
‘That is a classy parkland course- really, really, enjoyable to play!’ Announced retired Liverpool Lawyer Jim Rymer.

‘ What a great course, stunning greens – its only 5,600 yards but was really tough!’ analysed Harry Grant.

Wealthy Bramall Milkman Simon Burgess could not believe the quality of the greens ‘They were the best I have played on all year- amazing!’ Unfortunately his cream didn’t rise to the top and the team finished 16th .

Thanks to PGA Professional and Ex PGA cup player Andy Bagley for all his help arranging the event- He is the ultimate Club professional and incredibly highly respected by all his peers. Derek, Assistant Pro Sean and the Clubhouse staff were all immense.

Slimming world clients were also checking in to Leigh golf Club this morning as they had a class at 9am. Maxitours pie eating regular Graham Jackson arrived at 8.55am. He was torn between following the ladies upstairs for a group weigh in but eventually opted for the full English breakfast in the downstairs dining room.

I’m not sure where John Wallis has been the last six months but I want to go there.
He checked in, looked around in a puzzled way and asked:
‘Why is everyone wearing a mask?’

Barney Ross told me that the last time he played at Leigh Golf Club twenty years ago he got married in the afternoon!
Things went from bad to worse again today for the Didsbury man as his team managed a disappointing 74 points.

Bob Pickthall (15), Dave Thomas(19), Steve Lamont(8) and Rob Roden(13) were third match out this morning and they posted an excellent score of 83 points which was eventually good enough for 3rd place.

Paul Rudkin (15) is a great bloke and owner of his successful ‘Quality Save’ shops business. The Worsley man made some quality saves himself today as his team were 2nd with 85 points. They finished with just three points on both their final two holes which proved costly. Craig Gorton (14) Mike Lomax (16) and Kevin Roberts (8) completed the team.

The well-spoken public school Prestbury team of Ben Hood(16) Nigel Speak(12) Craig Barker(10) and the less well-spoken Macclesfield comprehensive lad James Davison(11) had their first ever win today. Davison made a terrific birdie for 4 points on the 11th to really get the team motoring.
‘James was amazing.’ Praised Hood.

Well played lads. Spiffing.

Thanks to everyone for your support today. Brilliant.
Tim.
