Maxitours at gorgeous Hazel Grove
Hazel Grove was the latest fantastic venue on Maxitours summer schedule.
It was great to see everyone playing in tee shirts once again as the first signs of the inbound heatwave hit Stockport.
There were plenty of compliments throughout the day for the stunning golf course.
I love this club, the members are incredibly friendly, and they can’t do enough to help. The ladies section ensure that the Charity half way house is always open for us. I even get a piece of hand delivered cake from Mags at the end of the day. What a club. Thank you Hazel Grove.
Head pro Matt Davies is also brilliant and right at the top of his game.
We’ve all seen clips on youtube showing daft dogs with big sticks trying to get through small doorways. Colin Roberts took it to a new level when he walked off the 3rd green holding the flag and only realised he was holding it when it jammed as he was getting in his buggy thirty yards away.
Attractive Janet Heywood and Jacqui Lee were left to play with John Nuttall and Pete Fotheringham whilst their husbands Steve and Chris were both away enjoying expensive golf trips.
After a drink in the Clubhouse there was talk of them both going out tonight. They will be passing Bredbury Hall nightclub on the way home. I don’t want to spoil your golf Steve and Chris but Thursday always used to be ‘grab a granny’ night when I went there in the early ninety’s. Just saying….
The scoring was tough as the famous Hazel Grove greens got the better of a few teams.
Nathan Mills team hit the ball well but also struggled on the greens. Team mate John Barnes walked past my registration desk and tripped up on the carpet spilling his beer.
‘I even misread the floor’ He laughed ‘I thought it was uphill.’
Third place went to Gary Neiles, John McGee, James Connor and John Colquitt with just 79 points.
The Yorkshire quartet of Rob Platt Darren Wilson, Tim Barstow and Tom Broadhead took Second place with 80 points.
Winning were the Ashton on Makerfield team of retired serviceman and all round nice guy Jimmy McEwan, Mark Holland, and father and son Tony and Ben Hope. It is quite confusing as Ben looks older than his Dad but the duo both picked up 3 points on the tough closing hole to seal the victory in style.
