Results from excellent Reddish Vale
The Reddish Vale golf club was incredibly dry today and the greens are up there with the best in Cheshire. I play Reddish a little bit in the Winter and l am always impressed when I come off the course with mud free shoes.
‘I love this course and have played here 6 times over the years but that is by far in the best condition I have ever seen it.’ Reported intelligent Eaton member Neil Davies.
Head pro Andy Myers also knows his stuff and was incredibly helpful today.
Reddish Vale is a really friendly working man’s golf club. Everyone is very welcoming and ready for a chat. I spoke to their lovely chef Colin during a quiet period and he told me his biggest seller on a Saturday morning is -Spam with cheese and mushroom sandwiches. ‘The members can’t get enough of them.’
At Bramall Golf Club two months ago Ray Tennant was on his own in the clubhouse after his team famously had breakfast at Bramall Park before realising they were at the wrong venue. Today Ray decided to get his own back by turning up at Vale Royal Golf Club on the other side of Cheshire. After a thirty minute high speed race he just managed to make his tee time.
In todays event the course was playing longer than usual after recent rainfall.
Scoring was incredibly close with three 82’s, an 83 and two 84 point hauls and an 85!
Fourth place went to Neil Davies, Jonty Little, Richard Hall and Andy Barker with 83. Two points on the par 5 fifteenth proved costly.
Kev Harts team have found some form and they were 3rd with 84 points. Winning the 2nd place cpo was Andy Bradshaws low handicap team from Bramhall.
Winning with an excellent 85 points were Hazel Groves Mick Jones, Ian Martin, Dave Stewardson and Rick Booth. They had a brilliant 46 points on the front nine and held it together to take the victory.
