Maxitours at Cracking Crosland Heath

What a day! Crosland was in superb condition for todays Maxitours event.

Alastair Mackenzie built his golf courses on some great pieces of land and this beautiful Heathland which overlooks industrial Huddersfield is no exception.

The free draining course means the greens are class twelve months the year and they were fantastic for this Maxitours event.

Paul Simpson was one of many knowledgeable golfers who really rated this course. We have been unfortunate to play it in windy conditions recently but on a day like today there are few better venues.

The catering is superb. It is worth coming to Crosland for the chicken flatbread alone. The main chef Chris imports the bread direct from Greece and if you sit next to a radiator in the clubhouse and block out the Yorkshire accents you could almost be in a Mediterranean Taverna..

In todays event scoring was good on a short scoreable course.

Wealthy retired fireman Kev Hart was thinking of spending his huge pension on some clubs and donating his 25 year old Driver to the local golf museum. However his Taylor made burner has reignited. His team were 2nd today with a super 86 points.

Winning by 1 shot were the Carleton Wheeldon(2) low handicap Stamford team of Andy Angelone(3) Jason Anderson (5) and Martin Dwyer (5). They had a nice smattering of birdies and scored heavily on their shot holes to take a first ever victory.

Good to see Mick Mahons team back on form in 3rd place and Andy Haywoods Tytherington team had a solid 4th place.
