Results from beautiful Ringway

One hundred and sixteen Maxitours golfers played at beautiful Ringway Golf Club today. The conditions were idyllic and the blue skies, tall pines and yellow azaleas (or were they daffodils?) saw the course resemble the setting for next weeks first major of the year, Augusta , Georgia.
New wealthy Maxitours player Graham Aspinall had a bad start to his day when he nearly choked on his pre round bacon sandwich after he was quoted £5250 (plus vat) for a new gearbox on his broken Porsche. Aspinall recovered well to make a great par at the first hole, with a shot, all his worries suddenly faded away.
Pete Moores also had a poor start to the day. He phoned his boss and explained that he would spend the day working on a long term project at home, at the same time whistling to himself as he gently cleaned his Mizuno clubs in preparation for a carefree day on the links. He nearly dropped his groove cleaner however when he was told a report had to be in at 5pm. Pete had to finish his round 3 holes early to complete his work and his team collapsed from a terrific 7 under score to finish just 3 better.
Ex state PE teacher Mike Haynes has an absolutely terrific pension and this enables him to spend his winters skiing in Austria . On his Maxitours return today he found it was his golf game that was heading rapidly downhill as he struggled on the first few holes. Good friend Norman Quick said he had spent far too much time on the piste this year.
Frank Garvey, John Dolan, Mike Wilson and Paul Bradley are playing some great golf in recent weeks and today they scored a terrific 83 points. John Dolan dropped just four shots on the tough back nine as the likeable quartet came home in some style to finish a very creditable third.
Malcolm Wells (6) assembled a dream team of class players for todays event. Alex Pritchard (+1) eagled the 2nd and 4th holes whilst Matty Robinson (1) eagled the 9th as they scored a terrific 46 points on the front nine. Cheshire star James West (+2) then birdied the 10th and 12th before the team suddenly realised they may actually win a Maxitours event. The enormity of the situation saw them drop a shot on the closing six holes to lose out on a card play off.
Ian Baker Finch, Sandy Lyle, Jonny Miller, Maxitours legend Neville Dennis and Tony Jacklin have all scaled the heights in their golfing careers before suffering an inexplicable loss of form. Seventy four year old Neville is currently languishing in 44th position in the Shotsaver Order of Merit and blames his inability to compete on his handicap.
‘Tim, can’t ya give us a few more shots, I’m an old man, me bloody andicaps too low, I can’t compete against them young bu**ers’.
Today Neville was back in the winners circle after helping his team of Pete O’Niell, John Reilly and the impressive Frank Massey score a very hard fought 84 points, well played chaps.
Many thanks to all Maxitours players for your terrific support today.

Glorious Vale Royal Results

Vale Royal is now recognised as one of the finest courses in Cheshire and it was once again presented in immaculate condition for todays full field of extremely talented Maxitours players. Thank you to all the Vale Royal staff for your warm and very professional hospitality.
Spring officially arrived today when a butterfly was seen fluttering on the course and Martin Bray was spotted in the Car Park. This thin blooded and pasty faced Mancunian only plays golf in the Summer. Today he decided it was just warm enough to dust down his clubs and enjoy the Mediterranean conditions and he was delighted to par three of his first four holes on his way to scoring a very respectable 40 points.
Alex Jerman’s ball must have hit a sprinkler head on the par 4 thirteenth hole as his tee shot finished on the green, he then holed a classy 15 foot eagle putt to send his partner, Dr Martyn Berrisford, wild with delight.
Joe Kirwan is another terrific bloke who is absolutely golf mad. He can be seen scaling the gates of Bramall Golf Club at 6am most mornings in order to get in some valuable time on the practice range. I played with Joe, his brother and his lovely wife in a major Pro Am at Castletown Golf Club on the Isle of Man a few years ago and the team was going well. Cath played a rare errant shot when she missed the green on the stunning 18th hole, her ball came to rest on a rocky precipice with a 200 foot drop down to the Irish Sea below. ‘Don’t try and play it love, it’s only a game and you could kill yourself if you fell of that cliff face, oh hang on, I’ve just realised- you get a shot here’ said a concerned Joe.
The talented 60 year old today teamed up with his good pal the retired fireman Charlie Rooney and they scored a terrific 45 points to finish in 4th place.
John Wraeg and Harry Malpas finished 3rd as they also scored 45 points. They looked like they had found a penny but lost a pound after failing to score any points on their last hole.
A few years ago Chris Heggarty fought well above his weight when he married his very attractive wife Gail. Today the likeable Chorlton member was fighting well above his weight once again as he recorded a career best five birdies to finish in 2nd place with a great 45 points.
An anonymous Maxitours golfer who can’t resist ‘the call of the links’ today secretly played while his wife thought he was at work. He was spotted by his playing partner this morning frantically driving around Northwich town centre searching for a chemist shop in order to buy some sun cream before his game. ‘I made the mistake of buying factor 30 last year but she can spot any slight skin glow, this season it has to be factor 50!’.
Big hitting Pete ‘sunbed’ Holmes from Macclesfield Golf Club always has a healthy glow, this 15 handicapper started his round with two majestic birdies. He then resorted to playing his usual rubbish for the next 13 holes allowing his partner Mark Brierley to step in. Holmes then got lucky once again as he birdied 2 of the last three holes in a storming finish to score a winning 46 points. Well played chaps!

Thank you to Steven and Jason Ballard from Shotsaver for their continued support of my events it is really appreciated. (the new Shotsaver s430 tour is in my opinion the best Golf GPS system on the market).
Many thanks to all golfers for playing today, I hope you had a great day.

The battle to win the Shotsaver Order of Merit continues as John Reilly puts in another solid performance to regain the top spot.
There is also a frantic struggle to finish in the top ten and qualify for the famous nine hole Maxitours Shootout after play at Knutsford on 26th April. The top 10 in the final Shotsaver Order of Merit all tee off together on the first hole and the worst net score drops out on each hole (a putt off if 2 or more tie).
Just two players will be left to play the 9th hole and decide the Shotsaver Shootout Champion!

The Fantastic new Summer Schedule

http://www.maxitoursgolf.com

Dear Maxitours Golfer,

Firstly thank you for your terrific support of my events last year which is greatly appreciated.

This is my 5th year running Maxitours and I hope you agree this is my best Summer Schedule ever. As always I have tried to provide the best courses at the best prices for my players.

I don’t advertise my events as the Tour has grown by your word of mouth and we have a really nice group of golfers who play this great game in the correct spirit which is essential for the success of Maxitours. Once again EVERY club has welcomed us back and this is mainly down to the great etiquette and respect displayed by our players.

I would finally like to thank all my sponsors for their great support of the tour.

Play well this season!
Yours in Golf,

Tim

Stunning Delamere Forest and Vale Royal start times

http://www.maxitoursgolf.com

**Fantastic Summer Schedule released tomorrow afternoon!**

Maxitours at stunning Delamere Forest

Another full field enjoyed the wonderful Delamere Forest golf course in todays pairs betterball event.

This great Golf Club is also one of the most exclusive in the country and anyone proposed for membership must be approved by every Committee member. There is a rumour that when a premiership footballer applied for membership recently there were so many black balls flying around the committee room looked like the corner of a rabbit hutch.

Delamere is quite rightly recognised as perhaps the best Inland Winter course in the North of the country and today the greens were a great credit to Paul the Head Greenkeeper and his very hard working staff.

‘What a great course’ said John Travolta lookalike Roger Percival, ‘those greens were unbelievably good’ he added. Percival had earlier rolled in a lovely eagle put on the 2nd to help his team record 46 points which earned a 4th place finish.

Peter Coughlin and Mike Wilson continued their good form as they also collected 46 points with the poorly dressed Mike Wilson collecting back to back birdies on the 7th and 8th holes.

The great Severiano Ballesteros recorded no holes in one in a tremendous playing career. Today Colin Roberts recorded the fifth hole in one of his incredibly average playing career. A delighted Roberts looked like a chubby Hale Irwin as he did a lap of honour around the 6th tee, high fiving his three playing partners before nearly falling into the pond below, after holing his tee shot on Delamere Forests signature 6th hole.

Big and very likeable Dave Antrobus represented Britain at Karate in the 1970’s. Sometimes, when he is playing poorly, he still shows off his fine chopping action as he makes his way around the right side of the golf course. Today Dave teamed up with his new best friend John Anderton and they played great golf to score 47 points. Seven handicapper Antrobus from Vale Royal recorded four birdies ‘it was a great team effort’ said Antrobus ‘even if I did play a lot better than my partner’.

Neil Todd loves his golf but despite being a great supporter of Maxitours he has never had a top three finish. Today the golfing Gods looked down on him and decided that this was his day. ‘That was the best I have ever played’ said a stunned Todd. A chip in for a birdie on the last meant a 47 point hall for the Cheadle man and his better looking partner Don Milligan, and they took the honours with a fine back nine performance. Well played chaps.
Thank you to everyone for playing in todays event.
Tim.
