Maxitours at Vale Royal

Vale Royal was once again presented in tremendous condition for today’s Maxitours event. The BBC were wrong yet again with their negative forecasting and the weather was ideal for a fantastic day on the links. Many thanks indeed to Ian Embury and his excellent hard working team at this stunning venue.

Jimmy O’Reilly, Pete O’Neill and Frank Massey have all played the memorable Vale Royal course many times. Today Irishman Jimmy was deep in conversation as he happily whizzed past the golf club exit and drove his team to all the way to Portal. As they started to unload their clubs quick thinking Frank looked around and asked ‘what the hell are we doing here?’

James Emmett brought his strange talking team over from ‘Alifacks in Yarkshurrrrr’ . They went home empty handed after teeing off in completely the wrong direction on the 5th hole. How they won the War of the Roses we’ll never know.

Alan Pengelly, Paul Bishop, Richard Blackwell and Andy Hamlett played together for the first time today and they were very happy with 85 points and 4th place. Phil Sharp(18), Malc Wells(4), Adam Hart(8) and Bob Vickers(7) love the four man team events and they finished in third with 86 points.

A team of four very posh scousers finished in second place. Peter Kenny(13), Martyn Edmunds(14), Mick King(18) and Andy Morgan(6) are wealthy land buyers and surveyors for Belway homes and others, today they built up an excellent score as the Wallasey team scored 86 points with an excellent back nine.

Pleasington’s Stuart Coupe(11) John Hughes(9) Mark Robinson(10) and Martin Jump(17) took first prize with a terrific 90 point haul. They knew it was going to be their day when Mark and John both chipped in for birdies to collect 4 points each on the tricky 13th hole. Modest Hughes commented ‘If I say so myself I was absolutely bloody terrific today’ Great golf chaps, well played.

This evening Vale Royal was hosting an upmarket function for an expensive local private school. A few glamorous ‘yummy mummys’ passed through the clubhouse bar. An wise old member of the tour who had been very closely monitoring the situation downed the remnants of his fourth pint and declared ‘I’m off home to see the wife- remember beauty is only a light switch away’.
