Maxitours final results at Qunita Do Lago Classic
Incredible weather once again was the reward for the sixty Maxitours Quinta Do Lago Classic players who travelled to Portugal.
Many thanks to everyone for your terrific integrity and behavior. throughout the trip I have just spoken to the hotel manager and he was impressed by the superb standards and behavior of our players this week. Brilliant.

Before we list the prize winners there are a few congratulations to be made to players and their achievements this week.
Andy Bennett was over the moon after his first ever hole in one with a superb 5 iron into the 17th hole at Laranjal on the first day – a brilliant shot he will remember for the rest of his life.
Huge congratulations are also due to Dave Goodwin and his team. They set a new world record of 22 glasses of red wine balanced on a small table in the hotel bar. This was set at 7.28pm last night just as the free bar was closing.
Paul Woodbine also set a record for fastest person to get lost in Portugal. He had been on the Algarve for 20 minutes and whilst 59 golfers were in the shuttles heading to the Quinta resort I finally located Paul happily enjoying the sunshine and drinking a pint on his own in the outside bar at Faro airport. Well done Paul.
In the overall touranament Knutsfords father and son Jim(11) and Chris Clarke(14) teamed up with Heyriose man Graham Jackson(8) and Abersochs Pete Ledger(19). They arrived three days early and prepared well with serious practice round on each course. I followed them around today and rapidly improving Chris was the star of the show with two birdies and an eagle on the back nine! Congratulations on a great team performance- A two shot handicap reduction each should slow the likable quartet down next year!
Laranjal on Day 1 was won by Allan Browns team with a terrific 82 points. ‘ It proved to be a very frustrating day for Pete Atherton though. He actually played really well but he was annoyed as he was too small to reach the oranges growing on the numerous trees around the course.
Jim Clarkes team took the honours on the final two days at Quinta North and South. Tubby team member Graham ‘the pie man’ Jackson had a disappointing start to the week when someone told him the Pie Ella was good. His ears pricked up as Graham has eaten every variety of pie on offer but he had never had a Pie Ella before. He was devastated when a healthy bowl of rice with a few shrimps arrived. His excellent golf soon put the smile back on his face.
Thanks to all players for making the trip so enjoyable to run. I hope you enjoyed the four days as much as I have.
Yours in Golf, Tim
