Maxitours at amazing Romiley

Romiley was an outstanding venue for the latest Maxitours fixture. There was terrific feedback from my players throughout the day.

‘I had forgotten just how good Romiley is!‘ Admitted Peter Veitch.

‘That is a class course- It must be the most underrated course in the North West.’ Announced intelligent Port Vale fan Colin Roberts.

‘Those greens are amazing – by far the fastest and best I have played on this year.’ Praised Andy Veitch.

The food at Romiley is also a bit special, new caterers have brought some New Zealand flare to the menu and the food was enjoyed by all.

Martin Humphries is famous for his bright clothes – he sometimes looks like he has been involved in an explosion at a paint factory. He had a good spell this winter and won a couple of grey maxitours tops- and lost a bit of colour from his game at the same time. I can feel a bright outfit coming on next week.

Steve Farmerson blamed his poor golf on exhaustion after watching the PGA championship into the small hours of Monday morning and then last night his wife was keeping him awake with a terrible cold.

‘I’m going to the spare room tonight – I’m going to sleep like a tramp in a five star hotel’ He muttered.

Scoring was tough with the fast, undulating greens and the strong breeze also played havoc with my players.

Three teams scored eighty points. Karl Marginsons team finished 4th, Colin Roberts finished 3rd and the team of Richard Blackwell(11) John Hilton(14) Garry Smith(8) and Doug Hill(14) won the card play-off after a solid 42 on the back nine.

Winning the day was the wealthy Sandiway team of Gary Neiles(5) , Father and son Henry(5) and Richard Melrose(6) and Paul Hurst(12). They had a terrific back nine of 44 points to earn them a first win of 2022. Well played chaps.

Thanks for your continued support and integrity,

Yours in golf, Tim
