Maxitours At beautiful Bromborough
A magnificent day on a tremendous golf course ensured a wonderful day for all.
‘That is by far the best golf course I have played all year! ‘ Reported knowledgeable Bob Eastwood after his three and a half hour round.
.
Dave Lomax knows a lot about golf courses and John Hilton knows a lot about bar staff and both were raving about their own specialist subject after play.
‘We have had a terrific day, everything here is first class.’
Being near Liverpool the staff have that lovely scouse sense of humour. The waitress brought me a superb chicken and bacon salad and I remarked how nice it looked and if she had made it?
‘No my job is just to run around like a blue arsed fly’ Brilliant.
All the staff were absolutely top notch today and the bar was open from food for twelve hours – amazing. It is great to see a man happy in his job and barman Paddy was class. Thank you Bromborough.
Harry Green was approaching the 9th when I saw him. I commented to him on what a stunning summers day it was and he replied that there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Not long after there wasn’t a ball in the sky either as his 50 yard lob shot was thinned across the green into a thick bush.
With the open just around the corner next month the Wirral parkland course was also playing like a links venue. The scoring was exceptionally close once again.
It was the longest day of the year yesterday but tonight will feel a bit longer for Simon Poucher after he missed from 12 inches at the last to cost his team a top 4 finish.
The Birchwood team of Simon Wilkinson, John Linsky, Barry Wilson and Dave Monk took 3rd with 84 points
Before play Lewis Marland was moaning – ‘I’ve been playing well but I’ll never win one of these.’
Well Lewis just ask Matt Fitzpatrick if dreams do come true. Lewis’s team recorded 85 points but as the breeze picked up and the golf course toughened up scoring got worse and Lewis was in contention. The likeable Mancunian had to settle for second place however as late in the day the Phil Gow Wirral team just pipped him and destroyed the fairytale ending.
Heswall is just around the corner and this local team made the most of their course knowledge to take 1st place with 87 points. Jamie Lloyd (10)is the handicap secretary at this prestigious club and he knows how to pick an in form team. Phil Gow(6) Mark Sanderson(6) and Shay Keogh(4) all contributed well. The team picked up 4 shots on the closing four holes as all around them teams were throwing shots away.
Well played chaps great victory.
Thanks to everyone for your support, Tim
