Results from first class Hopwood

Thanks to everyone at Hopwood for looking after us so well today.

The course and hospitality was up to its usual incredibly high standard.

Manchester golf club is now established as possibly the premier course in Manchester.

The report is shorter today as I have been playing. Thanks to Matt for taking over this afternoon.

It was good to see another heavyweight Frank Bruno at the Club this afternoon as he was the after dinner speaker at a Club function tonight.

Taking third place on the card play off was talented Simon Hartland, Peter Moores, Martin Williams and Lymms Rick Shaw with a hard fought 84 points. Rick has played for years without winning a prize for a different Maxitours team but he will be a delighted man tonight.

Jim Caldwells Wilmslow team took 2nd after a few quiet weeks with 85 points. Retired GP Martin Berrisford scored well on the front nine, Steve Barlow and Mike Slater also played well.

Winning today was the Shrigley Hall team Of Martin Firth, Eddie Geary, Thomas Hulley and Steve Mason with an excellent 87 points. They battled the windy afternoon conditions and picked up shots on the famously tough 15th 16th and 17th holes. Well played chaps. Excellent.

Thanks to everyone for your support, I gather there were some heavy localised showers in the afternoon. Your patience and integrity is appreciated as always.
