Maxitours at ridiculously good Ringway
Ringway is on the up and up. The Club is managed superbly and has a first class golf course, a state of the art Clubhouse and outstanding practice facilities for its members. No wonder there is a long waiting list.
Well done to Tracy and her team and the Ringway members for all their forward thinking and hard work.
The greens are gaining a ‘best in the area’ reputation and the views over Manchester city centre as you play the 17th and 18th holes were quite spectacular in todays dazzling Autumn sunshine.
Prestbury’s Steve Hall needs to get in the gym. When he finished his round of golf he looked tired and ordered a pint of Moretti. He had to use both hands to lift it to his lips.
‘Are you ok Steve?’I asked
‘Its very heavy’ He replied with wobbly arms. Maybe stick to the half pints next week Steve.
There was the first heavy dew of the season so the early starters played a longer course than players late in the day.
Father and son Rob and Andy Dean helped their team to a solid 5th place with 84 points.
The two teams from Prestbury teed off at 9am and incredibly both were leading for much of the day. Both teams scored 45 points on the easier front nine followed by 40 points on the tough back nine. Big hitting Steve Hall guided his quartet home with a strong final 6 holes to take 3rd place ahead of Carl Phelans fellow members team.
Taking 2nd place with 86 points were the three Bolton Adonis’s – Jenson Myerscough who looks like and has the name of a formula 1 driver, six foot six inches tall Italian Luca Denton, Gary Myerscough who’s quality genes produced Jensen and they teamed up with average looking John Dempsey. Dempsey (plus 1) can play golf though and he held the team together with some great play when the rest of the field faltered on the tough back nine.
Winning was the Hazel Grove quartet of Simon Ashton(11), Danny Moss(3), Dave Stewardson(13) and John Evans(14). They had a solid 44 points on the front nine before wobbling like an MFI wardrobe on the tough 14th 15th and 16th where the dropped a shot, however 6 points on the 17th and another pick up on the dangerous 18th hole saw the likeable fourball take their first win for three years.
They were delighted to win with just 87 points in perfect golfing conditions. Excellent golf chaps.
