Maxitours at pristine Preston

Head green keeper Jonny Roberts prepared the golf course to a tremendous standard today and all players really enjoyed this classic parkland course.

‘That’s a Terrific track!’ Reported Prestbury’s Phil Singh.

‘Fantastic.’ Declared Peter Maher.

‘Those greens were amazing.’

‘What a lovely course. I worked around the corner for ten years and never played it –I didn’t know what was I missing!’ Announced Paul Price.

Andy Parrington had a first today when he rolled in a birdie on the 17th to secure 4 points but didn’t appear on the card as team mates Andy Strickley and Andy Taylor had made superb birdies before him. The team finished in 4th .

Third place went to Mick Mahon, Dave Westwood, Richard Palmer and John Farnsworth. The Lancastrians love playing here as its only a stones throw from their Blackburn base. The showers didn’t bother Farnsworth as he was proudly wearing his new Galvin Green waterproof top. He got it at a great price as the colour was so bad no one else would buy it.

It’s a big day for the Royal family tomorrow.

But it was Rob Blain who played like a right Charlie at Preston today. His team finished last with 68 points.

Dave Monk and his Birchwood team took 2nd place with an exceptional 88 points. Barry Wilson, Simon Wilkinson and John Lynsky were in the team.

‘I’ve played golf for fifty years on most courses in the North West but had never played Preston. I am delighted to tick this one off and to get a second place is unbelievable!’ Reported eighty year old Lynsky.

Sergeant major Jimmy McEwan(6) is a tough lad but he was close to tears after his first ever Maxitours victory today. He teamed up with window cleaner Jack Parry(13)and Engineers Kian Price(8) and Ste Woods(11). Jimmy holed his approach on index 1 third hole as the team played both nines in an impressive 46 points.

Brilliant golf from the very likeable Ashton in Makerfield quartet. They are coronated as Champions this week.

Thanks to everyone for your support. I hope you had a great day!

Caldwell clinches the Xentum Order of Merit

Huge thanks to Xentum financial planners for Sponsoring Maxitours events and the Order of Merit.
www.xentum.co.uk
Our mission is to help business owners, families and individuals to get the most out of life with a unique blend of lifestyle financial planning, wellbeing events and travel experiences.

Caldwell takes the title!

Congratulations to Septuagenarian Jim Caldwell on winning the Xentum Maxitours Winter/Spring Order of Merit.

The likeable millionaire owns half of Alderley Edge but he is more famous for his highly competitive golf game. Three wins in 26 outings helped gentleman Jim to his first ever Order of Merit crown. Fully deserved after some terrific results towards the end of the season.

Congratulations Jim you have played some really great golf over the past six months.

Garry Smith took 2nd place ahead of his good friend John Hilton.

Gary Neiles from Sandiway finished 4th and Lancasters’ Peter Griggs took 5th place.

Two Saddleworth members made the top ten after fifteen years of trying as Dave Rhodes and Dave Sarsfield also played the best golf of their lives.

Thanks to everyone for competing with such great integrity and sportsmanship.

Yours in golf and friendship.

Tim.

Maxitours at wonderful Knutsford

Maxitours at wonderful Knutsford Golf Club

Maxitours players had a real treat at Knutsford Golf Club today.
The greens were cut and ironed and were rolling fast and true.

‘I’ve never seen the greens this good and this quick.’ Reported Cheshire Senior player Martin France.

‘The course was terrific!’ Added Pete Atherton ‘If this was 18 holes it would be the best course in Cheshire.’

‘Wow, we loved that. A really easy walk in beautiful surroundings. You are lucky to be the pro here.’ Declared Dave Sarsfield. Correct Dave.
Thanks to Dave Jones and his talented team.

Clubhouse manager Steve Barker also runs a tight ship and we were looked after royally throughout the day by my colleagues at the Club. Thanks so much everyone.

All players receive a doughnut half way around. Phil Long looked like he had been hit by a thunderbolt. ‘That is the first custard doughnut I ever had. It was incredible. Over sixty years of jam and now I have discovered custard. Incredible!’ He also had an excellent 4th place to seal a wonderful day.

Richard Palmer owns lots of rare sheep and he always misses March and early April due to the lambing season. He was back on form today taking 3rd with 40 points.

Big Dave Buckley is the steward at Antrobus and he thought he had pulled off a terrific victory with 42 points. The popular 18 handicapper is always first to the bar when he is not serving behind it and was all 4’s and 5’s on his card on the front nine.

Winning today was Heyrose’s Paul Salt. ‘Salty’ has won nothing this year despite entering a team most weeks but he ‘had a day out’ today. He looked embarrassed in the clubhouse but is one of lifes gentlemen and his playing partners were full of admiration. 25 points on the front nine was followed by 21 on the back.
‘It was just one of those days.’ Explained the softly spoken six footer.

Thanks to everyone for your support this Winter/Spring.

Maxitours at beautiful Bramhall Golf Club

Bramhall golf Club was in terrific condition for the visit of Maxitours today.

All my players had nothing but praise for this classic Cheshire course and the smooth fast greens were appreciated by all. The green keepers are doing a fantastic job.

‘That was amazing for the time of year!’ Announced knowledgeable talented golfer Simon Raine.

‘Magnificent course!’ Declared Russell Cash.

Damon and his bar staff provide the best food and hospitality on the Maxitours rota and there is always a very warm and friendly atmosphere in the clubhouse. Brilliant work guys and girls.

Bramhall think of everything. They even catered for the Tony Evans veteran Alsager team by having a simple door code for them to remember.

My son’s best friend Dom Smith was on work experience with me today and he is a lovely lad and did a great job. I sent him to the bar for a ‘long stand’. He came back 45 minutes later. It’s an oldie but a beauty. I nearly sent him into Bramhall for some tartan paint but he was much too smart to fall for that.

Paul Fell won last week but has asked for a front page apology today as I described his team as ‘Welsh’ in the report. He was devastated and assures me he lives in England despite having a slight welsh twang. Team mate Colin Bryan also wanted to clear things up and he informed me proudly that: ‘I am Welsh and I love sheep.’

Hector Campbell plays the bagpipes. He says it is a real skill but the bagpipes are very hard to maintain and keep in tune, apparently you have to practice hard and carefully look after the reeds, the pipes and the bag.

‘It’s one of the hardest instruments in the world to play. But its much easier than golf.’ He reported.

Millionaire retired lawyer Ian Goulty had a bad twenty minutes. He picked up his ball up on the 9th hole after a series of poor shots. He soon cheered up when he saw his favourite treat in the half way house- millionaire shortbread – always guaranteed to cheer you up after a bad hole!

After teeing off on the 10th he searched for his chocolate which he had lovingly placed next to his bag before spotting a huge crow enjoying his treat on the 18th fairway. Hard toffee Ian.

In todays event three teams shared 4th place on 84 points. As the day progressed the temperature rose and so did the scores.

Simon Raines lovable Northerners took 3rd place on 86 points.

Second place went to Prestburys Geoff Bickerton(3) and his team of Gary Amos(4), Steve Booth(8) and Ian Andrews(11). Geoffs good pal Gary had been keenly watching his less than average performances each week on the results email.

‘You need me in your team to give you a chance.’ He informed Geoff last week. Sure enough with Gary’s huge confidence and self-belief the team had a season high second place finish.

Winning today was Bob Bailey(5) who is a Southerner but still a nice bloke. He runs the senior team at Wilmslow Golf Club and led the way for his team today. Team mate and Former European table tennis champ John Hilton(13) is teaching him how to play ping pong but Bob was showed him how to strike a golf ball today. Steve Austin(15) and retired teacher Gary Smith(8) completed the team.

Well played chaps great scoring.

Thanks to everyone for your support today.

Results from lovely Llangollen

Maxitours events kindly sponsored by xentum.co.uk

Dear Maxitours player,

Due to my computing incompetence and also trying to send the results out after a cheese and wine evening at my golf club last night I managed to lose all the results!

Sorry about the delay as I have had a busy day teaching this morning then watching the football this afternoon.

Congratulations to Paul Fells team who had a first win of the year. Lovely lads with a great attitude to the game. Thanks to everyone for getting around in 4 hours throughout the day- superb.
