Maxitours at lovely Lymm

Lymm was in great condition for todays Maxitours event. The fairways were Royal Birkdale golden brown and the greens were a beautiful lime green and incredibly receptive. My guys all loved it out there.

Karen and her hospitality team were also brilliant. Steve McCarthy is one of the best pros in the North. Well done to Keith Melia and everyone at this brilliant club.

The breakfast baps were of the highest quality with three rashers of best bacon per roll. Prestbury Millionaire Henry Petrie had a quarter of a bottle of brown sauce on his bacon bap. Profits will be down tonight.

For the first time in a long time smoking was banned at Lymm as the fairways and rough were looking crisp. It was Dave Rhodes putter that was on fire as the Saddleworth team scored 88 points to take the lead. Pete Norbury, Dave Rhodes and Dave Sarsfield all contributed well.

There was a shock winner today as Hale’s John Webb, Martin Quinn, Pete Jackson and Mere’s Jonny Anderson also scored 88 points with a slightly better back nine. They were delighted. Webb normally has a pint after he plays. Today he had three and was laughing and joking in the bar buying bags of nuts and crisps for anyone who was happy to be talked through his round… He is a great bloke and will be a very popular winner. Jackson’s birdie on the last was crucial.

Professional drug dealer (aka Retired pharmacist) John Nuttall had a hole in one on the 5th hole. He hit a cracking 4 iron into the cup. Wonderful.
