Maxitours at brilliant Bromborough

Everyone enjoyed the Bromborough course today which was presented beautifully.

Graham Jenkinson plays lots of golf but this is his favourite.

‘Book our team in next year Tim, we love this place’.

The current Bromborough Captain Don Chalmers showed what a class golf club this is when he turned up to welcome us all today.

Even the half way house was excellent with a large selection of food available. Chris Lee didn’t score on the 9th but happily drowned his sorrows with a cherry and chocolate magnum ice cream. I’ve never seen him look so happy.

Gareth Moore is nicknamed Shergar. He has plenty of teeth and suddenly goes missing for a large period of time. He was at it again today as he disappeared into the undergrowth on the 10th and his team couldn’t find him until reappeared with a par on the 16th .

‘We thought he had been shot.’

Maxitours sponsor Clarion’s Keith Thompson is known as the ‘John Rahm of Hale’. Unfortunately, he doesn’t play golf remotely like big John-he was just born with a dodgy left foot like the Spanish superstar. He does arguably have more charisma than the LIV player though.

A new player Steven Ace played today.

‘That’s a great name – have you ever had one?’ I asked.

‘No’ he replied honestly.

After looking at his card today he may be thinking of changing his name by deed poll to Steve Triple-bogey. To be fair to the likeable 60 year old and in order for him to hopefully return to future Maxitours events I should mention that he made two great pars on the tough 15th and 16th to help his team.

Scoring was very close and it was the straight hitters who enjoyed the firm ‘linksy’ conditions.

On form Nigel Ashton, 82 year old Dave Cooper, Paul Burgess and Paul Jones won the card play off against two other teams to take 2nd with 88 points.

Winning today was Maxitours favourite Sam Leach and his Lymm team of Anthony Egan, Jonny Whirley and Jim Hodges. Leach hasn’t won Maxitours a prize of any description for years but he had a nett 66 in a club comp two weeks ago. Self confidence is oozing at the moment and Sams birdie on the tough 9th and a closing par on the tricky 18th really helped. Congratulations guys great to see you playing super golf.

Thank for all your support everyone, I hope you had a great day.
