Maxitours at Magnificent North Manchester

Masters trip – now room for just 2 players!

Maxitours at magnificent North Manchester Golf Club

It was great to return to North Manchester after a fifteen year break. There are exciting times ahead for this Club as the state of the art Clubhouse will open in early 2027. It looks amazing.

The course was playing tough, overnight rain, cool conditions and a strong breeze made it a very stern test of golf. Players were really impressed by the layout and we will be back next Summer to experience the course at its very best.

I’ve not seen Club Pro Jason Peel for fifteen years . He’s a top lad and well loved by all is peers. His hair was showing plenty of grey and there was a little more chubbiness to his smile than I remember. It’s incredible how some guys age yet I still manage to look exactly the same as I did thirty years ago.

Dave More’O’Farrells wife Collette loves me. We’ve never actually met but every now and then Dave brings me homemade pies and cakes she has made for me. They are incredible. Tandoori sausage rolls today followed by lemon drizzle cake was to die for. Thanks Mrs O.

There was romance in the air today. Steve and Janet Heywood were married on 28th October 1989. Things were a bit tight but they saved up and held their reception at North Manchester golf Club. Exactly 36 years to the day they were back at North Manchester Golf Club, still happily married and enjoying playing Maxitours golf with each other. Brilliant.

Barry Caldwell is a relatively new Maxitours player and entered a team into all the Summer fixtures. The team are all single players but have been frustrated by a lack of success. Today was their day. In possibly the strongest wind experienced all season his team had a solid 79 points to take first place.

Caldwell lives near St Helens and his company makes reinforced glass for barges. His talented team cruised to a four stroke victory. Well played chaps.

Bramhall’s Ian King, Andy Hagan, Andy Dean and Mark Grahamslaw took 2nd with 75 points pipping Sandiways John McGee, Martin Molyneaux and John Colquitt into 3rd spot.

Thanks to everyone for your support,

Yours in golf, Tim

Maxitours at delightful Davyhulme

Another big bullet was dodged today as storm Benjamin skirted Manchester and my players had a glorious day on an excellent golf course.

Davyhulme Park is an incredibly friendly club and it is always a pleasure to visit the impressive clubhouse which is steeped in history.

‘I like playing here!’ Declared knowledgeable Martin Humphries. ‘The course is as flat as a pancake but really interesting.’

‘That was a lovely day. It’s a pleasure walk around here. It’s good at my age not to have to negotiate any hills. Its flatter than a witches txx, but a really, really great test.’ Reported insightful Dave Singleton.

Club pro Maryn Hamer was a fine player and has now turned himself into a highly respected coach and club professional. It’s always great to chat to him about how lucky we are to have the life of a golf pro . He looks after us really well.

Scoring was tough on a golf course which was playing long due to recent rainfall. Jon Hudsons Bramall Park team took 3rd with 82 points. Mike Hill, 81 year old Rob Blain and Rob Hughes completed the on-form quartet.

Bramhall’s Ian King teamed up with Andy Dean, Andy Hagan and Andy Wisedale took 2nd place to record his best finish for years with an impressive 84 points.

Winning today were the Yorkshire quartet of Rob Platt(5), Darren Wilson(5), Tom Barstow(9) and Tom Broadhead(11) who recorded an excellent 86 points. All the best scores were recorded by the early groups who made the most of the calm conditions before the wind picked up later in the day.

Thanks to everyone for getting round in 4 hours – that is superb and really helps everyone’s enjoyment of the day.

Yours in golf, Tim

Maxitours at Super Stockport !!!

Thank you PGA Professional Matt Turnockfor running todays’ event so efficiently:
A calm but slightly overcast day with some very brief breakouts of sun created a pleasant playing experience for today’s event.
The course was in excellent condition especially the greens that were running fast and true.
Scoring was therefore very good with the benign conditions and receptive greens meaning many players making multiple 2’s with Kevin Cunliffe and Michael McPherson being the best of the bunch making an incredible 3 of them each.
Dave Rhodes thought he had hit the shot of the day with a stunning approach on the 18th to just 9 inches only to discover that Paul Manning had miraculously holed his approach with an 8 iron earlier in the day to deny him. On another day Dave !!!!!!!
It was tight at the top with three teams tied on 88 points but today’s winners taking advantage of their home course knowledge on an incredible 89 points were Simon Raines, Steve Hughes, Michael McPherson and Martin Keates. Congratulations !!!!
Big thanks as usual to my good friend PGA Professional Matt Turnock for running the day.

Details of the Amazing 2026 Maxitours Masters Trip

Dear Maxitours Players,

It’s official! The 2026 Masters Trip is locked in — and it’s going to be unreal.
🔥 Click the link below to see the full brochure — and secure your spot before it’s gone!

18 players already signed up
✅ Looking for the final 6 players to complete the dream team
✅ Pairs or fourballs – bring your crew and let’s make memories

This isn’t just another golf trip. It’s bucket list stuff. Last year, we played Hilton Head on the Sunday with the grandstands up, just before the Heritage Classic. It felt like walking inside the ropes of a PGA Tour event.

Then came the showstopper: the Masters practice day. Standing on Augusta National – it’s like entering golfing heaven. Words don’t do it justice.

We’re teeing it up on four epic courses, soaking in the Southern charm, and chasing a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

🔥 If this sounds like your kind of April, don’t wait. Call me with any questions — or just click and book.
Let’s make 2026 legendary.

Tim

Results from excellent Reddish Vale

*Full details of the amazing Masters and Hilton Head trip released tomorrow – just 6 -8 spaces left on this escorted trip of a lifetime. *

*Please check your Stockport time for Monday- earlier start than advertised.

Maxitours at Alaster Mackenzies wonderful Reddish Vale

Reddish Vale was presented in superb condition for todays event. Respected head green keeper Arron incredibly only has 2 other members on his team. They are real grafters and cut and ironed the greens and prepared all bunkers for us before the first fourball teed off just before 9.30am.
‘Those greens were really excellent!’ Declared experienced Lancashire Senior player Simon Raines. ‘Absolutely Superb for mid-October.’ There were plenty of positive comments throughout the day which is always good to hear.

‘That is just a great course.’ Was all Bob Kelsall could say.

Frank Greening was tying his shoe laces this morning and I could see he had no studs left in his well-worn shoes.
‘I think you need those studs changing Frank!’ I informed him using all the knowledge gained from my 35 years as a golf professional.
‘Not to worry.’ He replied.
When he finished his round he had a muddy smear mark up his back.
‘Did you slip Frank?’
‘Yes.’
‘Not to worry.’ I added.

Mike Baker played today. He’s a great bloke and has sponsored European Tour professionals and played golf all over the world. He had a birthday recently. ‘Did you get anything nice?’ I asked him.
‘My wife used to take me to the best links courses in the world for my birthday present. Now she just buys me Links deodorant.’ I think he was joking.

In todays’ event there were excellent scores from several teams. Even Dave Smith’s Hale team scored 80 points.
Manchester United fans Lee Tilley(11), Dave Sarsfield(17), Dave Rhodes(14) and Pete Norbury(17) have given themselves three years to turn their golf around and things looked up today as they took third place with 83 points.
Clitheroe low handicap players Simon Raine(40, Denis Greenup(2), Phil Cort (5)and Roland Horridge (11) took second with 84 points. Excellent golf.
Leading the way was eighty year old Dave Cooper(18) from Wrexham, Paul Fell(5), Colin Bryan(8) and Paul Nightingale(8) with 85 points. The likeable quartet teed off early this morning and were delighted with their score. ‘We even left a few out there.’ Said modest Fell.

Thanks to everyone for your 100% attendance.
Really appreciate it as always.
Thanks Tim
